William John (Bill) Adler, 97, of Cleveland, Oklahoma died on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 in Cushing, OK. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Strode Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Don Q. Brown and Pastor Dennis Stone officiating. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on June 8, 1912 in Morrison, Oklahoma to Christ Adler and Margaretha (Tuetken) Adler. He married Emma (Montgomery) Adler on November 20, 1937 in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.

He received his early education in Noble County. He was of the Lutheran faith and was baptized in 1912 in the Zion Lutheran Church in Perry, Oklahoma.

He farmed for forty years and later bought a home in Stillwater. He was a carpenter until his retirement. He did beautiful cabinet work. He really enjoyed golfing, traveling and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters, and one daughter in law.

He is survived by his wife, Emma of the home; son, Billy Adler and wife Jean of Longview, TX; daughter, Naomi Geraldine Smith and husband Jack of Pearland, TX; daughter, Caroll Lea VanDeventer and husband Bob of Cleveland, OK; ten grandchildren, Stacy Smith; Sean Smith and wife Susan of Pearland, TX; Karrie Pettyjohn and husband Paul of Edmond, OK; Douglas VanDeventer and wife Julie of Cortez, CO; Sue Todd and husband Jim of Longview, TX; Sherri Williams and husband Dana of Longview, TX; Timothy Adler and wife Shauna of Edmond, OK; Ann Adler of Missouri; Kenny Adler of Dallas, TX; and Celia Moore and husband Jeff of Cleveland, OK; fifteen great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
