Benjamin, my paternal 2nd great grandfather, was born in Arkansas. He moved to Missouri and on September 14, 1856 married Sarah Elizabeth Dobson in Ripley Co., MO. They had 7 known children: Nancy Jane, William Bennett, Mary Ellen, John Edward, Margaret Elizabeth (my paternal great grandmother), Thomas Warren, and Martha Alice.

After Sarah passed away, he continued living on his farm until his death in 1904.

His obituary was published in the 1-28-1904 edition of The Current Local, Van Buren, Carter Co., MO on page 4 (used with permission).

"Uncle Ben Seats of Ten Mile, father of W. B. Seats of Grandin, died at his home last Friday at 2 p.m. of complications of diseases. Mr. Seats was about 66 years old, and moved on the farm where he died when but fifteen years old. Carter County has lost a faithful citizen."

A MILLION "Thank Yous" to my loving aunt, Virgie Carter Alcorn-Evans, who helped me clear the Seats Cemetery several years ago to take these tombstone photos.
