Friday Sept 2, 1910 at the age of 49 years, 3 months, 15 days. He was born inJefferson Co. Iowa, Jan. 18, 1861. He moved to Gentry County, Mo. with his parents at the age of four years, where he spent his boyhood. While quite young he was converted, and became a member of the United Brethren church. He went to Malvern, Iowa, where at the age of twenty-one he joined the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, of which he was a faithful member to the time of his death. May 2 1884 he came west, and settled in Dawes county, near Crow Butte, 3 1/2 miles east of Crawford. Here he resided until 1907. At that time he disposed of his ranch owing to poor health, and moved to Crawford, where he was living at the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Miss Iva J. Barnes March 2, 1890. In 1899 he received a severe shock from a bolt of lightning, from which he never fully recovered.
