Ray Turner, 82, LaBelle, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in the LaBelle Manor Nursing Home at LaBelle. Born May 30, 1918, in Ewing, he was the son of Elmer and Eleanor Nall Turner. He married Faylene Shires on April 20, 1940 at Palmyra. Mr. Turner attended Ewing Schools and was a member of the Ewing Baptist Church. He and his wife farmed four years at Wayland; 17 years at Hannibal; and the last 34 years at LaBelle. Survivors include his wife, Faylene; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Frances Turner, Pittsfield, Ill.; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold and Cecil Turner. Visitation was held Wednesday, May 30, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing with family present after 6:00 p.m. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 31, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. at Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing with Rev. Tim Smith officiating. Interment was in the Dover Cemetery near LaGrange. Music was provided by Angela Dodds. Pallbearers were Wayne Kaden, Todd Logsdon, Jackie Shires, Danny Shires, Charlie Loscher, and Greg Neisen. Memorials may be made to the Dover Cemetery Selves Addition.
