Jack Hawkins
Birth: Sep. 14, 1910
Death: Jul. 18, 1973

Actor. Born in Wood Green, England, four over four decades he was a popular leading man in theatre, films and television. He made his London theatrical debut at age 12 and he made his debut on Broadway by age 18. Although he had appeared in several films during the 1930s, it was after World War II, he began to build a successful career in the cinema. Of his many film credits, some of his most memorable roles were in "The Black Rose" (1950), "The Bridge on the River Kwai" (1957), "Ben-Hur" (1959), "Lawrence of Arabia" (1962), "Zulu" (1964) and "Young Winston" (1972). For television, he appeared in the series "BBC Sunday Night Theatre", "The Four just Men", "The Dupont Show of the Week", "Dr. Kildare" and "Armchair Theatre". He died from complications of throat cancer at age 62 in London, England. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)

The late great Jack Hawkins . A true rarity , a film star who could act ; a real talent . We are so lucky Jack left us so many movies to watch him in . A wonderful legacy .
