Birdie Garnes, 95, of Wingo Ky, formerly of Jackson County, departed this life Friday, December 28, 2001, at her home following an extended illness. She was born April 8, 1906, in Kenna, a daughter of the late Columbus Monroe and Rosetta Lewis Reed. She was a homemaker and a Protestant. Surviving are sons, Harold Garnes, Kenneth Garnes and Roy Garnes, all of Pt. Pleasant, and Earl Garnes of Great Falls MT; daughter, Mildred Deason of Wingo KY; brother, Kermit Reed of Charleston; 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jackson Garnes; son, Carroll Lee Garnes; and several brothers and sisters. Services will be held today (Wednesday) at 11:00 a.m. at Casto Funeral Home in Evans, with the Rev. Sinnett Summers officiating. Burial in Fairplain Cemetery.
