Wayne Edward Strickler, 69, of Jacksonville, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at Danville VA Medical Center. He was born Oct. 22, — - 1934, in Jacksonville, the son of Glenn T. and Maxine Moss Strickler. He married Wanda Hutton on July 21, 1956, and she survives in Jacksonville. He is also survived by his mother of Jacksonville; two daughters, Kimberly (husband, Steve) Settles of Greenfield and Tracey (husband, Forrest) Dirden of Murrayville; six grandchildren, Stephanie (husband, Kaleb) Vetter and Dakota Settles, both of Greenfield, Sara Ijogue of Springfield. Heather Sanders, Molly Dirden and Madison Dirden, all of Murrayville; one great-grandson; three sisters, Beverly (husband, Robert) Mullen of Jacksonville, Janet (husband, Ralph) Hisle of Temple, Texas, and Judith (husband. Ronald) Fearneyhough of Gracewood, Ga.; and seven nephews. He was preceded in death by one nephew. Mr. Strickler was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a 1952 graduate of Jacksonville High School. He farmed locally, and was a meat cutter for Swift & Co. for more than 20 years. After retiring, he mowed lawns for several people in the area. He was a past member of Amvets and was a longtime member of Jacksonville Moose Lodge, where he had formerly served as governor. He used to have horses and ponies and enjoyed entering his ponies in shows. Funeral services and a Moose Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cody & Son Memorial Home, with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
