Howard Chase Christian, 86, a retired Army lieutenant colonel, died Monday in Fort Worth.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Andrews Catholic Church. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park. Rosary: 7 tonight at Greenwood Funeral Home.
Memorials: Music Department of St. Andrews Catholic Church, the Diabetes Foundation or the Organ Restoration Fund at University United Methodist Church.
Howard Chase Christian was born Oct. 2, 1910, in Fort Worth. He was a World War II veteran, communications officer and electrical engineer. He was a musician and played the violin and viola for the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in the 1930s. He was former music director for St. Patrick Cathedral, director of the Col's Manchester Players - an opera group - and was a composer and member of the American Guild of Organists. He was a ham radio operator (KA5MCU) and was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Lee Love Christian.
Survivors: Son, Robert Howard Christian of Denver; daughters, Nancy Christian Holloman of Baltimore and Karen Christian Ario of Fort Worth; sister, Helen Chase Stancoff of Fort Worth; and grandchildren, Joseph F. Padian of Baltimore and Lyssa Erin Kolb and Jacob Paul Kolb, both of Fort Worth.
