Florence Lucille Gilbert, 67, died unexpectedly yesterday at her home at 606 Laurel Ave., Pacific Grove.
Her death came of natural causes and an autopsy is being performed by the Monterey County Coroner's office.
Born Sept. 11, 1906 in Kankakee, Ill., she was a resident of Pacific Grove for 19 years. Miss Gilbert is survived by her sister, Georgia Neal of Pacific Grove and her brother, Lindsey Gilbert of Mountain View.
Private family services will be held Saturday at the Little Chapel by The Sea, Pacific Grove, followed by burial Saturday afternoon at El Carmelo Cemetery

Great Aunt Florence died in 1973. She passed away at home in Pacific Grove where she lived many years. Her residence (606 Laurel Avenue) was located directly next door to her sister (my grandmother) Georgia Helen Gilbert Neal @ 230 16th Street (corner of Laurel and 16th). She never married. I visited Aunt Florence many times in her small cottage. She loved to do crafts and made clown dolls for me and my brother. Family heirloom from Aunt Florence: Cameo from Limerick Ireland, H.L. Jewelers in Limerick, Ireland. Cameo was originally worn in a ring, per photo of Mary F. Gilbert (her stepmother who immigrated from Ireland abt.1884). My mother, Patricia Diana Neal, later remounted the cameo in a large custom-made gold setting ring, which she often wore. I will keep the ring in the same gold setting, but resize it. I have the original leather, wood, purple velvet and purple silk lined box from the jeweler. Box marked H.L. Jewelers, Limerick, Ireland.
