A DOCTOR 43 YEARS.
To have practiced medicine in one community for forty-three years is to have rendered a golden service. Dr. W. L. Davis, whose death Monday evening greatly saddened Albanians, began the practice of his profession here immediately after completing; his medical studies, and in and out of season-in the years that followed he rendered that priceless service which only a general practitioner is capable of performing. In Albany and throughout the surrounding country he served the sick — driving in his buggy through winter's rain and summer sun before the advent of the automobile, and responding more quickly to the calls of patients when more modem means of transportation became available. How many homes he served we do not know; we only know that for nearly a half century he was at the beck and call of those who needed him in time of emergency — when babies came into the world, when children ailed, when their parents were forced to bed, and when the aged battled with the multiplying ailments of accumulated years. Forty-three years as a general practitioner — what a service to have rendered, what a legacy to have left!
