Anita Juliana Amundson, 50, Clermont, Iowa, formerly of Killeen, Texas, died Thursday, August 5, 2010, at Palmer Lutheran Heath Center, West Union, Iowa, following a courageous four year battle with breast cancer.
Anita was born in Miltenberg, Germany on November 1, 1959, to Leo and Maria Link. She married Gary Lee Amundson on December 22, 1989, in Freidenberg, Germany. They made their home in Killeen, Texas, the past 15 years, where their children were born.
Anita worked in Germany as a translator in her office, and in Killeen, Texas, she was an administrative assistant with the Killeen School system.
Anita was always ready to greet you with her smile and to speak loving thoughts of her children. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her as friend and family.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Linda, and son, Nicholas Karl, both at home with their Uncle Albert and Aunt Mary Amundson of Clermont. She is survived by her family in Germany including two brothers, Helmut (Rose) Link, Arthur (Carmen) Link; one sister Irmgard Link and four nieces and two nephews. She is also survived by her family in Iowa; mother-in-law, Beulah Amundson, Monona; brother and sister-in-laws, Albert (Mary) Amundson, Clermont, Norma (Ken) Starks, Cedar Rapids, Brenda (Byron) Moses, Monona and several nieces and nephews.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Maria Link; husband, Gary Amundson and a brother, Karl Link.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 9, 2010, at 11:00 am at West Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, Iowa. The Rev. Dwight Albers will officiate.
Burial will follow in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Killeen, Texas.
