Services will be noon Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island or Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Alvin was born Feb. 13, 1929, in Alton, Ill., the son of Alvin L. and Sylvia P. Stewart Doerr Sr. He married Frances Salerno on May 19, 1951, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island.
Mr. Doerr was an electrician at the Alcoa Company, Bettendorf, for 36 years.
Alvin was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church, Rock Island, and Moline American Legion Post 246.
Survivors include his wife, Frances; sons and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Paula Doerr, Phoenix, Ariz., and Glen Doerr, Milton, Mass. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marjorie Tufts.
