Syracuse Herald-Journal ( NY ) - May 20, 1995 Deceased Name: GEORGE J. GOEPFERT Dr. George J. Goepfert , 79, of 13 Forester Road, Liverpool, died Thursday at home after a short illness.
A native of New York City, Dr. Goepfert had lived in Liverpool since 1971. He earned bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in chemistry from Fordham University. He was the supervising development engineer at Carborundum Co. in Niagara Falls before moving to St. Mary's, Pa. In 1971, he got a job at the Crouse-Hinds Co. in Syracuse as the division engineer of chemical and plastics technologies.
Goepfert held many patents for plastic products manufactured by the companies he was associated with, before his retirement from Crouse-Hinds in 1983. He continued as a consultant for the company until 1992.
He was a member of the American Chemical Society and the Society of Plastic Engineers. He was a founder and former president of the Buffalo section of the Society of Plastics Engineers and was president of that section.
His son, George "Tony", died in 1992.
Surviving are his wife, the former Jane Kneeland; a sister, Florence A. McSwain of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a grandson.
Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Monday at Maurer Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church in Liverpool, the Rev. Patrick O'Leary officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners.
