James Horace Alverson, 82, Russellville, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at Russellville Hospital. Mr. Alverson was a native of Franklin County and had lived in the Russellville area for the past 42 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Russellville and a World War II Army veteran. After retiring from the lumber business, he chose a second profession in the funeral industry. He enjoyed this type of work because it enabled him to help people during their time of bereavement. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, Ala., with Dr. Gene Balding officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Memory Gardens. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005 at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, Ala. Survivors include his wife, Louise Shaddix Alverson, Russellville, Ala.; son, Jim H. Alverson Jr., Russellville, Ala.; Joe Scott Alverson and wife, Debbie, Cullman, Ala.; brother, Ted Alverson and wife, Sue, Cullman, Ala.; sister, Bobby Alverson, San Antonio, Texas, Jamie Kalinec and husband, Henry, San Antonio, Texas; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Eddie Beason, Jamie Jackson, Calvin Parmer, Dwight Jackson, Don Leech and Ike Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. A.E. Terry, Ken Lewis, Gene Pace, J.T. Hendrix and W.C. Rooks. He was preceded in death by parents, Archie and Cora Alverson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Russellville. Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, is directing.
