From: Old and New Westmoreland, Vol 4, pg 1190, by John Newton Boucher, Fenwick Y. Hedley

Joseph B. Wissinger, son of Samuel and Elizabeth Berbery Wissinger, was born in Cambria county, Pennsylvania and assisted his father in the labors of the Somerset county farm. He also learned the shoemaker's trade. which he followed for a number of years. He was a man who could turn his hand to a variety of things, being very expert with tools, and he was also successful as a distiller. On removing to Westmoreland county he followed his trade and engaged in business as a distiller. Like his father he was a Democrat and a Dunkard. Mr. Wissinger married (first) Catherine Beachley, and the following children were born to them: Henry Franklin, mentioned below; Amanda, became the wife of Nelson Crisner; Sarah, became the wife of Lemon Matthews; William Edmond, married Margaret Slick; Susanna, became the wife of Joseph Bungard; and Annie, became the wife of L. B. Eyster. After leaving Somerset county, Mrs. Wissinger left the Dunkards and associated herself with the Methodist Episcopal church. Mr. Wissinger married (second) Esther Harr, there being no children by this union. He and his wife are now both deceased, the former having passed away at the age of seventy six.
