Little is known about Mary. IF her maiden name was Morgan, she was born in Beaver Co. PA. She married a man named Davidson, and then in 1885 married Benjamin Pounds (his second wife), with whom she is linked here.

She had at least one child, a son, by her first marriage but no children by the second marriage.

The second marriage, to Benjamin Pounds, was reported in the "Jewell Co. [KS] Republican" as follows:

Jewell County Republican, 17 APR 1885, Front page: Benj. Pounds and Mrs. Mary J. Davidson were married at Red Cloud, Neb., last week. They will reside on their farm near Randall.

Jewell County Republican, 3 DEC 1886, Front page: Mrs. Benj. Pounds has come back to town and will live with her son. Uncle Benny has concluded to board.

JC REPUBLICAN, 20 JAN 1893, Front page: Mrs. Benj. Pound(s) has gone to Nebraska, where her son resides.

JC REPUBLICAN, 28 APR 1893, Front page: Word comes that Mrs. Benj. Pound died suddenly at Wymore, Neb., on the 11th inst.

The marriage License for Benjamin Pounds and Mary J. Davidson lists her maiden name as Morgan, born in Beaver Co, PA. No first name listed for her father, her mother listed as Nancy J. Lightner. She had 6 kids with Robert James Davidson (1870 & 1880 censuses) Charles & James stayed in PA; US Grant died before 1880; Edward, Emma Jane and Esther Eva moved west and were listed in the 1885 Kansas census with Mary.
