Mrs. Maggie “Granny” Mitchell, 94, Railroad Circle, Summerville, Pennville Community, died Monday at her residence.
She was born in Randolph County on May 22, 1916, a daughter of the late Osie and Mellie Smith. Mrs. Mitchell was a homemaker and a Baptist. Her husband, Harve Mitchell; daughter, Barbara Baldwin, and sons J.W. Mitchell, Joe Mitchell, Gene Mitchell and Junior Harvey Mitchell died earlier.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda York, Summerville and Shirley Austin, Subligna; sister, Louise Spears, LaGrange; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday (today) from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Russell and Chaplin Dewight Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Pennville Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Joey Mitchell, Dennis Mitchell, Jason Mitchell, Jimmy Mitchell, Keith Roulane, Clint Baldwin, Kevin Austin and Scott Austin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Wade, Jed Teems, Chris Crump, Lance Henderson, Heyman Hospice, Sonya Hall, Ray Mitchell and great-grandchildren.
