Naoma Rich Earl, 93, passed away November 15, 1994, at her home in Provo, Utah.
She was born August 26, 1901 in Paris, Idaho to William Lyman and Emily Matthews Rich.
She married Frank J. Earl, Provo businessman, March 22, 1961 in the Logan LDS Temple.
Student body vice-president at Fielding Academy in Paris her senior year of high school Served in Northern California Mission, headquarters in San Francisco, for 26 months. Graduated with a B.S. degree from Brigham Young University. Taught at Bear River High School for four years.
In 1931, she attended Riverside Library School in Riverside, California. Graduate work at Columbia University in New York. Next teaching position was at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, where she organized the library according to the Dewey Decimal System.
In 1937 she became assistant librarian at BYU, later head librarian and coordinator of Technical Services until her retirement and marriage in 1961.
Utah Library Association, BYU Women Faculty Association, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Utah Sorosis, Alice Louise Reynolds Club.
Active in LDS Church serving on the Bear Lake Stake Sunday School Board, Bear River Stake YWMIA Board, Provo Stake Sunday School Board, Provo 4th Ward Relief Society presidency.
Supported her husband, Frank J. Earl as Rotary District Governor of Idaho and Utah. Traveled extensively in later years.
Survived by children, Mauree E. Christensen, Karen E. Rowan, James L. Earl, daughter-in-law, Renee T. Earl (Husband deceased, Charles H. Earl); 20 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband; and the following brothers and sisters: William L. Rich, Zula R. Cole, Mabel R. Sutton, Jesse P. Rich, Gertrude R. Price, Hazel R. Shepherd, Iris R. Callings, Lyman H. Rich, Clarence M. Rich, Lois R. Gundersen, Rolla M. Rich, Edith Rich, and Lyle M. Rich.
Survived by many caring nieces and nephews to whom she was very close through the years.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 21, 1994, at 11 a.m, at the Provo 4th Ward, 800 North 100 West, Provo.
Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Provo Cemetery.
