Was to be ordained in Lancaster, but was tragically killed. It was at a time when there was danger of an attack from the indians. The militia were guarding the town. In the dusk of the evening, a sentinel heard the approach of a man in the bushes and ordered him to stand. The man did not reply. After repeating the command without effect, the sentinel fired his musket and on examination found he had kiled his minister. The Reverend was much beloved and the circumstances of his death left a feeling of gloom and sadness which continued forr an entire generation. (information provided by Velcro (#47336803)
