Bennie Anderson passed away at the Memorial Hospital in Kadoka after an illness of two and a half years. He was born in Wessington Springs SD on April 23, 1905 and was 58 years old at the time of his death. The family moved to the Van Metre area in 1908 and Ben grew up there and attended the White Clay school through the 8th grade.
He worked for the railroad in Van Metre and Aberdeen and in 1924 attended the Fargo Barber College in Fargo, ND. After finishing school he spent the first few years barbering in Draper and Pierre and later worked with Earl Fackelman at Earl's barber shop on Deadwood St. in Fort Pierre about ten years before buying a barber shop in Midland in June of 1937.
On September 13, 1937 he was united in marriage to Lynda Reinschmidt at Sioux Falls, SD. They raised two daughters, Leilani Joyce Hand (Thomas) and Shari Kaye.
Ben liked to keep up on current events by reading newspapers, magazines, and by listening to the radio and his customers. He enjoyed Hawaiian music, played the ukulele, and sang tenor. He gave his oldest daughter a Hawaiian name.
