101 Year Old Calhoun Native Lived In Three Centuries
A former Calhoun resident, Benjamin B. Dye of Parkersburg has died at the age of 101. Dye was the son of the late George Washington and Parentha Estella Raybuck Dye.
Mr. Dye is the first Calhouner we have identified has lived in three centuries, although there may be others.
His father, George Dye, was the son of Benjamin and Roena Dye, and his mother, Stella (Estella) was the daughter of B. S. Raybuck of the Freed area. Raybuck has been written about in The Herald as an inventor who obtained special U. S. patents on a locking nut and bolt system prior to 1900.
The deceased was a retired supervisor with American Viscose Company, an antique dealer and a member of the Lockport Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dollie Richards.
Surviving are two daughters, Dessell Foy of PA and Patricia Carr Lucas of Parkersburg; two sisters, Cokie Turner of Zanesville OH and Edith Barr of Frazeyburg OH.
Three brothers, Shirley of Duncan Falls OH, Ernest of Parkersburg and Everett of Big Springs. Also surviving and several grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (3/16) at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in South Parkersburg. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 Wednesday.
