Mr. J.B. Burgess, age 80, of Martling community, died Wednesday night about 9:15 after a long illness.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lena Colquitt Burgess; ten sons, Miley and Willy of Horton, Rt. 1, Leonard of Albertville, Route 1, Boyce of Douglas, Burton and Dayton of Martling, James of Alton, Alabama, Bob of U.S. Army, Germany, Charles Ray and Walter of Martling; four daughters, Mrs. Sester Wilkerson, Mrs. Flora Reed and Mrs. Francis McClendon of Albertville, Rt. 1 and Miss Bonnie Burgess of Albertville, Rt. 2; one brother and one sister; 29 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Martling Methodist Church, Friday, May 22 at 11 a.m. Burial was in Martling Cemetery with Carr Funeral Home directing.
