Bernard served as a Private First Class, Company I, 60th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Baltimore, Maryland prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on November 18, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

Bernard was "Killed In Action" at St. Lo, Normandy, France during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Service # 33384412


Originally interred in France, his remains were repatriated to US soil on July 7, 1948.

Beloved son of Mary & the late William Cosgrove.
