Joseph was one of the Morrison children that settled in New York City. He met and married Nancy Wark about 1841 in New York City. They were the parents of David W., James, and Martha Jane Morrison. According to NYC Directories, Joseph was a stone cutter by trade and lived on 334 W. 42nd Street. At the time of his death, he was living with his daughter Martha and her husband, David.
