Frederick J. "Fritz" Sartor, 84, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning, Nov. 21, 2010, at his home.

Fred was born April 7, 1926, in Sandusky, a son of Leo Martin and Caroline Barbara (Rudiger) Sartor. He was one of 16 children. He joined the Marine Corps in 1943 and served with the 5th Marine Division in Iwo Jima during W.W. II.

He retired from New Departure-Hyatt (Division of General Motors) in 1992 where he worked in skilled trades.

After retirement, Fred enjoyed woodworking and creating the Sartor Family Christmas Village with his wife Donna. He also created and built several large woodworking projects over the years, including furniture and a playhouse for his granddaughters. Fred was best known for his sense of humor, starting many water fights and food fights over the years.
