Ernest Frank Brown was the son of James M. Brown and Anna B. Hostetter. Ernest married Lida Lee Steel on July 5, 1892 in Putnam County, Indiana. However, by 1910 he had located to the big city and was employed as a mail carrier in Indianapolis. In 1920 he was living in Seattle, Washington, and was a housing contractor. By 1930 he moved again, to Los Angeles where he worked as a carpenter in the motion picture industry.
