Dies at Nyssa

NYSSA – Mildred L. Powell, a partner with her husband in the publishing of the Gate City Journal, dies at her home in Nyssa Sunday evening about 6 p.m. Her death followed a lingering illness.
Mrs. Powell was born in Missouri July 5, 1901, and she and her husband moved to Nyssa in 1944 when they bought the Gate City Journal. She had worked closely with her husband in the duties of publishing the paper.
Mrs. Powell was a member of the order of the Eastern Star and the Degree of Honor Protective association, both in Baker and where the Powell's resided before moving to Nyssa.
She is survived by her husband, Klass V. and her son, Keith, both of Nyssa, and a sister, Mrs. Walter Evans of Halfway and two brothers, Isaac Blair of Elmira and Samuel Blair of Spokane.
Services will be announced by the Lienkaemper Funeral Chapel.
