Homer A. Turner, 55, of Chaffee, former resident of this city died at a hospital in Cape Girardeau of a heart ailment Tuesday, having been a patient there since the preceding Friday.
Mr. Turner, who was connected with the Brown Shoe Company during his residence here had been superintendent of the Sports Specialty Shoemakers plant for the past 13 years. He was a member of the Board of Stewards of the Chaffee Methodist church and was widely known for his charitable activities through this section, having been active in the work of the Eastern Star; Boy Scouts and the American Legion, as well as his church activities.
He was married on September 17, 1921 to Miss Irene Jones, who died in 1928, leaving three children. On June 24, 1939, he was married to Miss Marguerite Williams, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Dick Turner of Hollandale, Minn. and Virgil Turner of Pottersville, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Dela Traylor of Carlsbad, N.M. and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Chaffee Thursday morning, a second service being held in Mattoon, Ill.; his former home, on Friday. Funeral was in Dodge Grove Cemetery there with American Legion gravewide service.
