He died in an automobile accident when he was in high school. He was survived by
his father and siblings: Tulah, Erna Mae, Vera, Maurine, Barney and Weldon. He
was a very popular young man, serving for several years as a mascot to the
football team and was active at the Hillsboro Fire Department. At his funeral,
the First Baptist Church was packed to capacity.
