Paul Higdon will arrive on the weekend from Anderson, Ind., to spend a couple of weeks vacation with relatives at Britt. Mrs. Higdon and the three children came three weeks ago to be here for the Golden Wedding anniversary of her uncle and aunt, Dr. and Mrs. F. E. Heacox, and have been visiting at the parental Wm. Fillenwarth home. They will return to Anderson with Mr. Higdon.

Obituary from the "Tribune" of South Bend, Indiana, dated 1 Oct 2006:
Paul Austin Higdon, 93, of Granger, formerly of Indianapolis and Anderson, Ind., passed away Friday, September 29, 2006, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
He was born on June 30, 1913, in Britt, Iowa to the late Shotwell G. and Melinda (Salstrom) Higdon. On November 28, 1940, in Britt, Iowa, he married the former Daisy Glenn Fillenwarth. She also preceded him in death on February 17, 2000, along with his son, Ronald Paul Higdon on July 28, 2005; and his three brothers, H. R. "Jim" Higdon, Gerald Higdon and Clarence Higdon.
Paul retired from Bendix on June 1978 after 17 1/2 years where he worked as a technical writer. Paul belonged to the Masonic Portage Lodge 675 where he was Past Master, Chapter, Council & Commandry of York Rite, Scottish Rite, Orak Shrine, Order of Eastern Star of St. Joseph Chapter where he was Past Patron, and White Shrine of Jerusalem where he was Past Watchman of the Shepherds.
Paul is survived by his loving family; his three daughters, Linda (Larry) Bennett of South Bend, Joan (Michael) Godfrey of Lakeville and Janell (Steve) Miller of South Bend; his daughter-in-law, Linda Higdon of South Bend; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.
Friends may visit with the family today, October 1, 2006, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend. An Order of Eastern Star service will be held at 4:15 p.m. followed by a Masonic service at 4:30 p.m. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday October 2, 2006, in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
In loving memory of Paul, memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, Indiana.
