At a regular meeting of the Massena Lodge No. 513 F. & A. Masons, held at their Lodge Room August 4th, the following resolutions were adopted on learning of the death of our esteemed brother, Captain Martin J. Chamberlain, who died at Frederick City, MD on the 20th of July, from wounds received on the battlefield at Monocacy Junction July 9th:

Whereas, We are called upon to mourn the loss of one of our worthy members, stricken down in the prime of life, while bravely leading the 106th Regiment against those seeking to destroy our glorious Union.

Resolved, That while we bow in humble submission to the will of Divine Providence, we will ever cherish the memory of our departed brother.

Resolved, That we, as a member of this Lodge, deeply sympathize with the widow and orphan of the deceased, trusting that the God of the widow and fatherless will sustain and comfort them in their severe affliction.

Resolved, That a copy of these proceedings be sent to the widow of the deceased, and the same be published in the REPUBLICAN and JOURNAL.
