Mervin Eugene "Bud" Atteberry, 75, of Modesto died Sept. 1 at his home.
Mr. Atteberry was a native of Alton, Ill. He lived in Modesto 65 years. He was a furniture upholsterer. He was a member of American Legion Post 74 and E Clampus Vitus Chapter 58. He was president of the Burbank Dad's Club in 1957 and a volunteer for the Salvation Army. He is survived by his care-giver, Barbara Anderson of Modesto; children, Mina Johnston Smith of Empire, Norma Lee Fisher of Turlock, Carole Rozeira of Modesto and Gloria Pinheiro of Ceres; brother, William D. Atteberry of Gadwin, Mo.; sisters, Edith Nowel of Missouri and Cheryl Johnson of Zina, Ill.; and nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. today at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel. Burial at 1:30 p.m. today at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella. Remembrances may be made to Community Hospice, 601 McHenry Ave., Modesto 95350; or the American Cancer Society, 1604 Ford Ave., Modesto 95350.
