Noah Albert Ward was the second of five known children of Leroy (went by Lewis) H. Ward (1838-1920) and Emily Ann Oliver (1844-1918), who married c1864 at presumably Illinois, though a marriage record for them can't be located.

Noah married Minnie Mae Stevenson (1879-1904) on 17 Dec 1895 at Brunot, Wayne County, Missouri. Noah and Minnie were the parents of three known children, namely:

1. Edna Ethel Ward Ownby (1897-1993)
2. Ramon Hines Ward (1899-1935)
3. Bessie Mildred Ward Ownby Ownby (1902-1969)

The first two children were born in Wayne County, Missouri and the family was living at Cowan Township, Wayne County, Missouri in 1900. Between 1900 and 1905 the family homesteaded on land above Hoquiam on the Pacific coast of Washington, where their third child was born.

Minnie was living in Washington State with her family when she got word of her mother's death. She took a train back to Missouri. During an open buggy ride from the train station at Greenville, Wayne County, Missouri to her father's house near Brunot, she caught cold and died of pneumonia. She is buried in an unmarked grave.

In 1910 the three children were living with their grandparents Lee and Emily Ward (and Aunt Zoa Ward) at Cowan Township, Wayne County, Missouri.
