James Barber, Jr. & Elizabeth Barber
The parents of Moses H, Joseph D, and Sanford were James Barber and Elizabeth Barber. James and Elizabeth were half second cousins, meaning in this case that they had the same great grandfather. [It was not at all unusual at this time for people even more closely related to marry.] James was born 20 Jul 1788 in South Kingston, Washington County, Rhode Island, and Elizabeth was born 22 Feb 1792 in Exeter in the same county. They married 06 Apr 1809 in South Kingston, and James died here 08 Aug 1861. Elizabeth died in Exeter 08 Dec 1874. Their children were:
1. George William (1812-1891) who married Mary A. Green.
2. Eliza Ann (1814-1897) who married Benjamin Weeden Brayman.
3. Mary E. (1816-1874) who married Benjamin T. Adams.
4. Willet Anthony (1818-1892) who married Lucy Ann Austin.
5. Henry (1819-1897) who married Eliza Ennis 1840.
6. Joseph Dennison (1820-1897) previously discussed.
7. Albert Stanton (1822-1888) who first married Waity Peckham and second Eliza Peckham.
8. Sanford (1825-1862) who married Elizabeth Webster 1856.
9. Susannah (1831-1926) who married John Gifford Vaughn 1850 and lived in Stonington, Connecticut.
10. Moses Hazard (1833-1896)
