Mrs. Ira Harvey died at 6:00 o'clock Monday afternoon at the General Hospital in Wichita Falls. Her death was caused from heart failure. She had been suffering from this for about a year, but thought it was asthma and had not taken it seriously.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock at the Baptist Church in Seymour, Pastor J.R. Balch being assisted by Rev. T.C. Willett. Special music was given by Mrs. Tom McCauley and by a quartet composed of Lee W. Harris, John Chandler, Bob Jones and Jimmie Lester. Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery, and the following acted as pall bearers: Clem Thoele, Finn Caussey, Luther Thomas, Otis Thomas, Mann Tackett and Earl Chandler. The flower bearers were: Mesdames Bob Garlington, Johnny Lanmon, Finn Caussey, Earl Martin, A.J. LaGarde and Jimmie Hankins.
Ira Whaley was born at St. Jo, Texas on Jan. 12, 1891. She was mrried at Bowie to John Badgwell. Three children were born to them, one of them, Clifford, and a twin to Clinton Badgell(sp), died when nine months old. Clinton lives here, and a daughter, Mrs. R.A. Patterson, is at Henderson, Texas. She and her husband came for the funeral. A brother of Mrs. Harvey, Lawrence Whaley of Apache, Okla., was also here with his family. Another brother, Everett Whaley of Pecos, and a sister, Mrs. Edna Walls of Waurika, Okla., were not able to come. Mrs. Harvey is also survived by one grandchild, John Allen Badgwell of Seymour, to who she was very devoted.
Mr. Badgwell died in 1925, and his widow married W.S. Harvery, who also died a few years later. Since that time Mrs. Harvey has resided mostly at Olney and Wichita Falols, and for the past five years has been an employee in the General Hospital at the latter place. She was a member of the Baptist Church, and a woman of fine personality and splendid qualities of character. Her sudden demise, comparatively early in life, is a great shock to the loved ones, who have the tenderest sympathy of friend and the community at large.
