J. C. Brown Died Sunday; Funeral Service Held at Shiloh Tuesday (Tuesday has been crossed out and Monday has been handwritten beside it)

James Clifton Brown, prominent resident of the Ingleside community, died Sunday afternoon at a Jackson hospital. He was 59, and had been ill for some time.
Funeral services were held at Shiloh Baptist church at 3 p.m. Tuesday, with Rev. A. E. Hamilton, pastor, officiating. Interment was in Wintergreen Cemetery, with Guion Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Brown was a native of Mendenhall, but had resided in Claiborne county for the past 25 years. He was a retired employee of the State Highway Department; a veteran of World War I; a member of the county school board and had been a deacon in Shiloh Baptist Church for about 23 years.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. J. C. Brown; two daughters, Mrs. James T. Bonner, Port Gibson, and Mrs. Raymond Burke, Florence; two sons, J. C. Brown, Jackson, and Vernon Brown, Yokena; four brothers, F. M. Brown, Mendenhall, R. J. Brown, Yazoo City, Ed Brown, Winnsboro, La, L. E. Brown of California; seven sisters, Mrs. Mack Grantham, Mrs. John Grantham and Mrs. Jimmy Jones, Mendenhall; Mrs. Charles Robertson and Mrs. Abe Robertson, Oxford, Mrs. Annie Dixon and Mrs. Janie Dixon, Winnsboro, La. Also, numerous nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers were his nephews: Grady Jones, Jack Jones, Grady Jones, Jr., Clyde Jones, Roy Russell, James Brown, Claud Porter, Paul Fraiser. Honorary: S. H. Bagneil, Walter Stampley, Robert Segrest, John Watkins, Douglas Nelson, Hardy Stampley, Dr. Karl Horn, H. B. Hudson, Clyde Woods.
