JOHNSTON William Joseph Johnston, Jr., M.D. on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at his home. Beloved husband of Rosalie Junca Johnston. Son of the late William Joseph Johnston, M.D., and Audrey Chevis Johnston. Survived by two children: Allison Johnston DeViney and her husband, Robby Garrett DeViney, and William Guy Johnston, and two grandchildren: William Garrett DeViney, and Joseph McCain DeViney. Also survived by his brother, Bruce S. Johnston (Anne); his nephew, William Cooper Johnston; and niece, Margaret Blake Johnston. He was 65 years of age. A native of New Orleans, LA, he graduated from St. Martin's Episcopal School, the University of Southwestern Louisiana, and Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He performed a residency in general surgery at Louisiana State University Medical Center, and a residency in Neurosurgery at the University of Alabama Medical Center. He served as Chief Resident in Neuro-surgery at the Birmingham Veteran's Administration Hospital, and Chief Resident of the University of Alabama Neurosurgical Services. He was currently Chief of the Division of Neurosurgery at East Jefferson General Hospital. He served as Chief of Staff in 1992. In 1991 he served as Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery and Chairman of the Medical Executive Committee from 1990-1993, and Chairman, Surgical Procedures, from 1996-1997. He was an Assistant Clinical professor of Neurosurgery at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He was also on the staff of River Parishes Hospital. He was board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He was a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Southern Neurological Society, the Louisiana Neurological Society, the Garber Galbraith Neurological Society, the Society of Neuro-surgical Anesthesia & Critical Care, the Louisiana State Medical Society, and the Jefferson Parish Medical Society. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at MUNHOLLAND UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 1201 Metairie Road, Metairie, LA 70005 on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 11:00 A.M.
