Arnold R. "Shorty" Allen, 62, of 238 N. White, died Sunday at a Grand Island hospital....Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery at Wolbach with graveside rites by St. Paul Masonic Lodge No. 82, A.F. & A.M.
Mr. Allen was born Sept. 21, 1922, on a farm near Wolbach, the son of William and Rosena Klein Allen. He received his education and grew up in the Wolbach area.
During the early 1950s he moved to Grand Island where he worked at Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant during the Korean War. He later worked at the talcum powder plant in Grand Island. He later drove a taxi and had worked for Kelly Well Co. for a number of years. After the firm closed he worked for Preisendorf Well Co. For the past two years he had worked for Bonsall Pool Co.
He was a member of the Masonic lodge at St. Paul.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Effie Janc of Grand Island and Mrs. Eugene (Verla) Wieser of Columbus; a brother, Clarence of Wolbach, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
