ORLA J. SAUNDERS
"Orla J. Saunders, 75, formerly of Garratsville, died Wednesday, January 19, at the Oneonta Nursing Home after an extended illness.
He was born February 2, 1896 in the Town of Butternuts, a son of Charles J. and Nellie (Wright) Saunders. In 1932 he married Abbie Lynch at Sidney. Mrs Saunders died in1949.
In early life he was a farmer in the Gilbertsville area. Later he worked for some years at the Electrical Components Division of the Bendix Corp. at Sidney. He also worked for about two years in New York City.
Surviving are a brother, Glenn Saunders of Garratsville; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Archie Saunders of Mount Upton; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral and committal services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 21 at the Moore Funeral Home, Gilbertsville, with the Rev. Roger L. Beach, pastor of the First Presbyterian
Church, Gilbertsville officiating. Burial will be later at Brookside Cemetery, Gilbertsville."
