LEWISBURG — Romaine V. Herrold, 85, formerly of 207 Lamplight Lane and most recently a guest at RiverWoods, Lewisburg, passed on to join her husband and Father in Heaven on Wednesday, Oct.13, 2010, while at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

She was born Sept. 18, 1925 in Sunbury, a daughter of the late James B. and Florence (Shomper) Yeager. On March 5, 1944, she married Roy E. Herrold, who preceded her in death on March 19, 2002, after 58 years of marriage.

Romaine was a 1943 graduate of Sunbury High School.

She began her career at Westinghouse in Sunbury and from time to time worked in the Sunbury High School cafeteria and various retail jobs, alternating between work and homemaking as family needs required.

Romaine enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking and watching TV. She loved animals, especially dogs, from growing up on a farm. She lived for her family and making a loving home. She always worried about her "kids" and "grandkids." Involvement in the PTA, serving as an assistant Brownie troop leader and encouraging participation in Little League were some of her activities when her family was young. Romaine was always a loving, dedicated and accepting wife and mother.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Roy J. and Susan K. Herrold, of Winfield; one son-in-law, Herman Guisewite, of Milton; one foster daughter, Alberta Pensinger and husband Allen "Red," of Shippensburg; four grandchildren, Tyson and Quincy Herrold, Jeffrey Girton and wife Sharon and Scott Girton; two great-grandchildren, Jeremy Girton and Jennifer and husband Matt Devensky; two great-great-grandchildren, Ian and Isabelle Devensky; and special caregivers Sadie, Rhoda, Idella, April, Susan, Mary Beth, Kathy and Julie.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra L. Guisewite; two brothers, Charles and James Yeager; two sisters, Marjorie Furman and Evelyn Deppen; and three infant siblings.

Arrangements will be published at a later date for a graveside memorial service conducted by Pastor Arlie E. Davis in the Herndon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Romaine Herrold may be made to Mostly Mutts, 284 Little Mountain Road, Sunbury, PA 17801.

The family is being assisted by the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.
