Evelyn (Tierney) Flynn, 80, of Rockland, died Oct. 18, at Brigham and Womens Hospital, after a weeklong battle with endocarditis. Evelyn will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and thoughtfulness. She was a soft spoken girl from County Clare, Ireland, who always found time to write a thank you note or secretly slip her grandchildren $20. She said little, but didnt have to, as by her actions she showed us how to live a quietly heroic life. She was surrounded by family at the time of her death and was at peace. Wife of the late Robert E. Flynn Sr., to whom she was married for 46 years, she was the mother of Robert E. Flynn Jr. of Rockland and Kevin P. Flynn and his wife Donna of Weymouth; sister of Teresa Flynn and her husband John of Rockland; grandmother of Bobby, Joe and Keri Flynn, all of Rockland, Sean and Brian Flynn, both of Wilmington, and Brendan Flynn of Weymouth. Also survived by a step-granddaughter, Elizabeth Pearson of Weymouth; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Flynn of Sandwich and Mary Flynn of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 45 East Water St., in Rockland, Friday from 4-8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 403 Union St., in Rockland. Interment in Holy Family Cemetery.
