Birth: Aug. 28, 1801
Indiana, USA
Death: Feb. 5, 1845
Buchanan County
Missouri, USA

Her husband William Cotter, son of James Cotter Jr. and Rebecca Ellis, were married in 1788 at the New Hope Monthly Meeting, Rheatown, Greene Co., Tennessee. William died in Owen Co., Indiana. His grave has not been found. Sarah had 8 children by William but..William had been married before to Hannah Laney and also had 8 children with her.

When she married Adam Dittemore, they had 3 more children. She was the second wife of Adam Dittemore and he brought into the marriage 10 children he had by Mary Berger, widow of Samuel Yeakley plus 3 of Samuel Yeakley

That makes 29 children being raised or cared for by Sarah during her lifetime. Adam married a total of 5 times and had a total of 31 children by all his wives. And they addopted 2 more!!

To make this really complicated, I am from the children of Samuel Yeakley and Mary Berger. Also from Lydia Dittemore, Adams sister and John Cotter. Down the line Samuel and Mary's son married the daughter of Lydia Dittemore and John Cotter.
This line is very small compared to the rest of them.

I am from the Dittemore, Cotter, Yeakley lines directly. All three families married into the Sandy. These are my mothers families. Now for my fathers connection. Henry Francis Cotter married Mary Ann Yeakley and their daughter Hattie married Darwin Coy who comes down the line from the same ancestor that my father did, Joseph Schnepp 1731. I am very proud of my family and surprised to the 3 connections that my parents families had with each other.
I share the same ancestors with anyone in Henry Francis Cotters decendents.
