Much thanks to Marilyn Sanner Keim who originally created this memorial. When she first found this grave, the cemetery records showed that this plot was owned by the Cooper family, and the person in this grave was 'Ann Annfield'. Family records for Sarah Ann 'Ann' Armfield stated that she was buried in 'Coopers Plat' in Edgar, Clay Nebraska. This grave is together with Sarahs daughter Diana Cooper, and Dianas husband Oscar Ura Cooper. The stone appears to have been put at in the same time as her daughter and son in laws, as they are all the same style and are side by side. They are marked Grandmother, Mother and Father, so it seems her grandchildren put them in at a later time. This would account for the inaccurate dates on the stone, as their Grandmother and Mother were gone, and they apparently guessed at the dates.
I have never posted an obituary, but I will add hers at the bottom of this memorial, as it answers so many questions people have had.

"Sarah was born in England, the daughter of Charles Robert Townsend and Mary Thomas Carter Townsend. She came to the United States with her parents in about 1858 at the age of 16. Her father was a minister. Sarah married Paris Armfield on Oct. 16, 1866 in Chillicothe, Livingston, Missouri, with her father officiating their wedding. Paris was a widower with 5 grown children when he married Sarah. The couple first shifted to the Burlington Iowa area where their first 2 children were born, and then they moved to Powersville, Putnam, Missouri where their family continued to grow. Sarah and Paris had 8 children together, and after they had been married only 12 years, Paris died in Putnam Missouri. Sarah was left to raise her children alone. She had 3 pairs of twins, but each pair of twins lost their twin to death, two as a small child, and one at age 17. By 1880 she had moved her family to Nebraska where her parents lived, and where she was living with her brother Joseph Townsend. Her 3 oldest children were married in Nebraska. In her later years she could be found staying with some of her children wherever they lived, including her sons Elmer and David in Idaho, her daughter Mary Parker in Bellingham, her daughter Ann Ripley in Oliver, British Colombia, and her daughter Diana Cooper in Edgar Nebraska. She lived to the age of 86, and is buried in Edgar, Nebraska." -bio. by S.W.
