Mary Adams Swenson was born June 14, 1914, in Pleasant Grove, Utah, to John Lewis and Caroline Petrina Hendrickson Adams. She passed peacefully May 1, 2007. Mary attended schools in Pleasant Grove. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1933, where she loved and participated in drama productions. She married Joseph Arnold Swenson, her eternal sweetheart, April 28, 1936, in the Salt Lake Temple.
Mary enjoyed tending to her gardens, doing embroidery work, providing a loving home atmosphere and traveling. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings including Relief Society President and counselor, Stake Mia Maid leader, ordinance worker in the Provo Temple and family history extraction.
She is survived by three daughters: Colleen (Rex) Richins, Orem, UT; Patricia Ann (Gary) Hunter, Glendale, AZ; and Jolynn (David) Davies, St. George, UT; 15 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grand-children. Other survivors include sisters-in-law, Thelma Ash, Fern Adams, Naomi Adams; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wesley and Virgina Swenson. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and son, Joseph Gary, her sisters, Melba Longfellow, Arleen Adams and Orpha Bringhurst; brothers, Vern Adams, Floyd Adams and Richard Adams.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Orem Nursing and Rehab and Alpine Hospice for their tender, loving care.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2007, in the Suncrest 9th Ward Chapel, 130 North 400 West, Orem. Family and friends may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
