Born in Pittsfield on April 17, 1926, the daughter of Francis and Adele LaMountain Mickle, she was a 1946 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.
Evelyn was employed for over twenty years a General Electric as a wire wrap inspector in the ordnance division until her retirement in 1988.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Dalton.
Evelyn enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing bingo, going to Hampton Beach but her greatest love was going camping.
She leaves her husband Donald L. Cripps Sr., who she married on April 10, 1948; they celebrated their sixty-second wedding anniversary this past April.
Evelyn leaves her children Donald L. Cripps Jr. and his wife Marie of Dalton, Kathleen A. Warman of Pittsfield, Timothy E. Cripps of Dalton, grandchildren Christopher J. Cripps of Pittsfield, Michael E. Cripps and his wife Sue of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Matthew L. Cripps and his wife Amy of Pittsfield, Capt. Scott W. Warman and his wife Lori of Beaufort, South Carolina, Justin D. Cripps of Plano, Texas, nine great-grandchildren, a sister Penny Burnick of Pittsfield, and daughter-in-law Tina D. Cripps. She was predeceased by a son James M. Cripps, and two brothers Robert Mickle and Francis Mickle.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Evelyn Cripps will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at BARTLETT WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Irene M. Jones officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ashuelot Cemetery in Dalton.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
