William Dempsey Franklin, 88, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2010, in Webster, Texas. He was born on October 31, 1921 in Thorndale, Texas to William and Hallie Franklin. William was a retired Warrant Officer of 30 years serving with the U. S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post #8248, Disabled American Veterans and American Legion Post #89. He was also a member of Mainland Church of Christ.

William is survived by his wife, Nancy Franklin; step-daughter, Celicia Gay McGraw; close friends Michael Cruser, George and Laurel Knadler, Frankie and Jessie Gentile and friends and comrades of VFW Post 8248 and Ladies Auxiliary. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Yvonne Franklin.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, Texas with Pastor Tom Medlin officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial be made in William's name to the ASPCA or the charity of your choice.
