John B. Chase, 68, retired Ionia township farmer, died at his home in Muir early Friday morning. Mr. Chase had been in ill health for some time.
He was born January 14, 1880, in Ionia township, where he lived until March 28, 1944, when he moved to his home in Muir following his retirement from farming.
Mr. Chase belonged to Lyons lodge F. and A.M. No. 37, of which he had been an active member.
Surviving is his wife, Maude; three daughters, Mrs. Vivian Lamphere and Mrs. Norma Eckley, both of Muir, and Mrs. Betty Ackerson of East Lansing; one brother, Ernest Chase, of Ionia; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services are to be held Sunday, April 4, at the North Plains church at 2:00 p.m. Masonic services will be in charge of Lyons lodge F. and A.M. No. 37.
Burial will be at North Plains Cemetery. Dr. Paul L. Stewart of Ionia will officiate.

Masonic rites were held Sunday, April 4, for John Chase at the North Plains church. Dr. Paul Stewart officiated and Bert Fox was acting master. Interment was in North Plains Cemetery. Mr. Chase died at his Muir home Friday morning.
