Funeral services for Carl Sippel, 83, well-known Mt. Calvary resident who died at his farm home Sunday night, were held from the residence at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday and at 10 a.m. from Holy Cross church. The solemn requiem mass was celebrated by the Rev. Felix Sippel of Elkhorn, son of the deceased. Others in the sanctuary were the Rev. S. Bernard and the Rev. Fr. Schneider of Milwaukee, the Rev. J.W. Huepper and the Rev. Fr. Maas of St. Francis seminary, the Rev. Joseph Beyer and the Rev. E. Rodenkirch of South Milwaukee, the Rev. S. Zohlen of Mt. Calvary, the Rev. Joseph Glueckstein of New Holstein, the Rev. James Schmidt of St. Ann, the Rev. B. July of Plymouth, the Rev. John Koelzer of Random Lake, the Rev. J.J. Shanahan of Fond du Lac, the Rev. Fr. Raphael O.M. Cap. and the Rev. Fr. Mathias O.M. Cap. of Mt. Calvary, and the Rev. John Krieg of Dotyville. Honorary pallbearers were Wiliam Sippel, Fred Bleuel, Ben Bittner , Hubert Weingartz, Joseph Turmer, Sr. and Anton Petrie and the active bearers, Albert, Ally, Jule and Bernard Sippel, Alfred and Felix Gross. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Born in Germany. Mr. Sippel was born in Germany on June 18, 1848, and was 11 years old when he came to America with his parents to settle on a farm near Mt. Calvary. He died on the old homestead now occupid by his son, Joseph, following an illness of two months. Mr. Sippel was a member of the Third Order and the Sacred Heart society of Holy Cross church. Six children, the Rev. Felix of Elkhorn, Joseph of Mt. Calvary, John of Hulls Crossing, Martin of Oshkosh, Mrs. John Gross and Mrs. John Scheible of Racine, survive. There are also 37 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. A son Bernard died in 1904. Many at Services.
