My 2nd cousinLAWING Melissa Yarbrough Lawing, age 50, passed away August 23, 2008. Melissa was born in Winston-Salem, NC, on October 1, 1957, to Ewell Gray and Shirley H. Yarbrough Jr. Melissa is survived by her children, Michelle and husband Jon Solo of Sugar Land, TX, Melanie and husband Jamie Brooks of Winston-Salem, NC, and Morgan Lawing of Sugar Land, TX; her grandchildren Isabella Solo, Kristen Brooks, and soon to be baby Emma Brooks; her brother, Jeff Yarbrough and wife Cheryl of Winston-Salem, and Leslie Conrad of Katy, TX; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces. And lastly, her dear kitty, "Kiki". Melissa was a lifelong resident of Winston-Salem, NC and attended Hanes High School. She will be remembered for her big heart and giving nature. She was always known to lend a helping hand whenever possible. She adored her children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them. A special thanks to all those who have helped Melissa over the years. A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at at New Hope United Methodist Church, located at 5125 Shattalon Dr., Winston-Salem, NC. In lieu of flowers, her daughter' s request for donations to be made to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in honor of Morgan.
