"I'm O.K." David Williams Park, 78, died peacefully August 6, 2004, surrounded by his beloved family, after a courageous struggle with cancer.
He was born June 25, 1926, in Salt Lake City, to Thomas Arthur and Annie Gwendolyn Williams Park. He married Virginia Kenney September 5, 1952 in Salt Lake City, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

Dave left high school in World War II to serve in the Navy and Marines as a medical corpsman. He served on the hospital ship Hope, bringing home ailing American POW's freed at the end of the Pacific War. He later finished his high school diploma and attended Westminster College and the U of U for a time. He worked as a financial clerk for a credit institution and later as an employee of the LDS Church. He loved music and as a young man, and played the saxophone in an orchestra. He was a devout member of the LDS Church; he served in a variety of positions, including youth leader, bishop's counselor, stake high council and nine years as bishop of the Imperial Second Ward. He loved people and was always thoughtful, unselfish and ready to be helpful and get involved in their lives. Despite recurring bouts of cancer over a 16-year period, Dave was ever optimistic and happy. "I'm O.K." was his favorite expression. A gentle, kindly person, he nevertheless was full of humor and quick wit.

He is survived by his wife Virginia of 52 years; son Gregory D. (Nikki) Park, Davidson NC; two daughters, Wendy L. (Paul) Stoddard, Kari A. (Allen) Braithwaite, Salt Lake City; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister Leone Barker, Salem VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Thomas Park; granddaughter, Leslie Braithwaite.

Funeral services for Dave will be held Tuesday August 10, 2004 at 12 noon, at the Imperial Second Ward 1560 E. Atkin Ave. (2825 S.). Friends may call Monday evening August 9, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E., and again at the church on Tuesday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Funeral Directors: The Holbrook Mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that contributions be made to the LDS Church missionary fund. burial 10 Aug 2004
